Academic council
The Academic Council of Kyzylorda Open University is an elected authorized body established for the purpose of collegial consideration of the most important issues of the university activity. The Academic Council consists of vice-rectors, heads of structural divisions, famous scientists, representatives of students, trade union committees of teachers and students.
In its activities, the Academic Council is guided by the Law of RK “On Education”, the Standard Rules for the organization of university activities, the Standard Rules of the Academic Council of the university, the Charter of the Kyzylorda Open University.
The main tasks of the Academic Council are:
- uniting the potential of the university staff aimed at providing quality professional training and advanced training of specialists;
- strengthening material and technical base of the university and providing financial support;
- development of scientific research, promotion of further development of the University.
The activity of the Academic Council is based on the publicity of collective discussion of issues within its competence.
The powers of the Academic Council include approval of the University structure, approval of the strategic development plan, definition of the development concept, definition of new directions of specialists training in the multilevel system of higher professional education. Every year at the meetings of the Academic Council there discussed the reports of the rector on the work done, reports of vice-rectors, heads of structural subdivisions on the types and methods of educational, research and educational work.
The Academic Council also focuses on the development of international cooperation, information, financial and economic activities of the University, social assistance to teachers and students. At the meetings of the Academic Council there are discussed the Addresses of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the people of Kazakhstan, the national project for the development of education and science of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Quality Education”, “Educated Nation”, decisions and resolutions of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

History of Open University of Kyzylorda
The Kyzylorda Open University is one of the universities of the Syr region, which has established itself in the educational business. The Kyzylorda Open University was opened in 1998 as the Kyzylorda Engineering and Economic Institute, and in 2009 it was transformed into Humanitarian and Technical Institute “Akmeshit”.
In 2022, by the decision of the founder of the Institute it was renamed into an educational institution “Kyzylorda Institute of Technology and Service” and passed state re-registration through the Department of Justice of the Kyzylorda region.
In accordance with the decision of the founders and on the basis of the certificate of the Department of Justice of Kyzylorda region on the state re-registration of the legal entity the educational institution “Kyzylorda Institute of Technology and Service” as of February 10, 2023 it was renamed in the educational institution “Kyzylorda Open University”.
During 25 years though it was not so much time for history, it conquered milestones that have taken a worthy place in society. A lot of work is being done to strengthen the material and technical base of the university and to train competitive specialists. Today the university carries out educational activity under the license of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of RK on 23 educational programs of higher education.
Scientists of the university took part in the competition for grant financing of scientific and scientific-technical projects, organized by the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the result of which several projects received grant financing. Also in the competitions organized by the local executive body, our scientists participated with their projects and repeatedly became winners. The number of articles of the teaching staff and students published in the international peer-reviewed journals, at collections of works of foreign and domestic conferences is growing every year.
All necessary conditions for training modern students have been created. Professional and competitive specialists, educated at the University, that are in demand in the labor market, fruitfully work in various sectors of the economy of Kazakhstan.
The University has passed specialized accreditation of the international institutional and educational programs through the Association of Modern (Elite) Education of Kazakhstan (KAZSEE), which in June 2022 entered the register of accreditation bodies recognized in the Republic of Kazakhstan, and was transferred to the Institute by the decision of the accreditation council of KAZSEE for a period of 5 years (30.06.2022-29.06.2027). ) for passing the specialized accreditation of institutional and educational programs.
In addition, in May 2023, 9 more educational programs of the institution passed international specialized accreditation and received certificates of accreditation agency (19.06.2023-18.06.2028). ) for passing the specialized accreditation of educational programs.
