The main goal of our scientists is to increase groundwater reserves

Scientists of the Kyzylorda Open University conduct scientific research on the issue of improving the ecological state and water resources not only in our region, but also in the whole of Kazakhstan. The main goal of our scientists is to increase groundwater reserves.

According to experts, in twenty years, water consumption in Kazakhstan will grow by 56 percent, and water scarcity may exceed twenty cubic kilometers per year.

Extreme weather events lead to floods and landslides and pose a serious threat to cities, infrastructure, roads, buildings and bridges. All major cities of Kazakhstan are located on the banks of rivers and are therefore prone to floods.

Today, many of the effects of climate change are being felt through water resources. It is obvious that climate change will increase global demand for water, increasing competition for water resources as the quantity and quality of available water changes. Today we need to invest in natural solutions.

To solve these problems, scientists of our university have repeatedly held meetings with specialists in this field, and trips are organized to study the terrain of the occurrence of natural reservoirs.
