New Opportunities in Science Begin with Quality Publications

A scientific and practical seminar on international research publications was held at Kyzylorda Open University on the topic “Modern Strategies for International Scientific Publications: Preparing and Publishing Articles in Scopus and Developing a Researcher’s Academic Profile.”

The seminar was organized and moderated by Kanat Alenov, PhD, Head of the Department of Engineering Technologies.

The invited experts were Nurbol Appazov, Academician of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor at Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, and Nurgali Akylbekov, Associate Professor, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Head of the Engineering Laboratory of Physicochemical Analysis Methods at Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University.

The participants explored practical approaches to preparing research papers for international journals, selecting suitable journals in the Scopus database, and evaluating key journal metrics, including CiteScore, SJR, SNIP, and quartile rankings. Particular attention was given to hands-on activities: participants searched for journals relevant to their research areas, reviewed publication requirements, and analyzed journal metrics using practical examples.

In his speech, Kylshybai Bissenov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor and Rector of Kyzylorda Open University, emphasized the strategic importance of high-quality research and international publications in strengthening the university’s research capacity.

The seminar aimed to enhance the publication skills of faculty members and young researchers, improve the quality of academic papers, and expand opportunities for presenting research findings to the international academic community.

The Department of Engineering Technologies will continue its efforts to strengthen research culture and improve the quality of the university’s international scientific publications.
